SAT & ACT Prep Raleigh & Holly Springs

APlus is excited to offer SAT and ACT Test Prep at our Wake County / Raleigh locations, primarily Leesville Road High School (8410 Pride Way, Raleigh). (Click here for class listings in Durham.) Our classes are led by certified teachers with years of experience teaching SAT and ACT prep courses. Our test prep classes and tutoring go beyond the test and help students learn academic skills useful in high school & college, such as vocabulary-in-context, analytical reading, English grammar, and essay writing.  Although our ACT and SAT Prep Wake County classes are small (12-18 students), some seek private tutoring as well to assist students with achieving higher SAT or ACT test scores, which in turn provide increased opportunities for scholarships.

ACT & SAT: MYTH VS. FACT

MYTH: Colleges prefer the SAT.  FACT: Colleges also accept the ACT.  Students who submit ACT scores only are just as competive as those who submit the SAT.  Some colleges are even test-optional.   Beginning in  2012, more students in the US took the ACT than took the SAT.

MYTH: Students have to take the SAT to get into college. FACT: Colleges also accept the ACT.  Students who submit ACT scores only are just as competive as those who submit the SAT.

MYTH: Students have to take both the ACT and SAT to get into college. FACT: Students DO NOT have to take both.  They certainly can if they wish, but many of our students don’t waste time doing so.  Once they attend our SAT/ACT seminar that helps students decide which test that better suits their learning styles, they focus on that one test and aim for scholarships.  Get started now with making an informed choice.

MYTH: The tests are biased against certain groups of students. FACT: The tests are NOT  biased against students who are PREPARED. Those who take a rigorous high school courseload, read widely outside of school, and know content knowledge for math and English score well on both tests.

MYTH: Strategies and “tricks”  will help a student score higher on the SAT & ACT. FACT: There are no “tricks” for scoring well on either test.  Preparation begins with taking a rigorous high school courseload; reading widely outside of school; and learning content knowledge that enables students to answer questions correctly.
